On Tuesday I was warmly welcomed by Google’s Women in Tech to lead a workshop on salary negotiations and managing your career in a fast-moving company. We had a great turnout of engineers and managers, all looking for useful techniques to be better salary advocates. I used WAGER as an example of the next generation of tools and services looking to break the taboo around salary conversations so we can Share More, Know More and Make More.
I’ve come to realize that no matter the job title, experience level or the company, employees often ask the same questions: “How do I know my worth?” "Who do I talk to?" "What do I say?" We role-played and took lots of questions but at the end of the day there’s only one way to truly know your worth: you have to ask. We have to talk amongst ourselves without shame or fear, we have to dig around for information and we have to ASK. Get more data and make better decisions. And always have a WAGER!
